Kakamega, Kenya

Sunday, August 2, 2009. I sit on the train, riding backwards, my forehead pressed to the window. The city is passing me by as I head home after a long day at work, the buildings stretching higher than youd ever think possible and I cant help but think about Kenya, cant help but think of all the things I wish I could show my family there about my life here. We here may be more capable of connecting, but this is no indication that we are more capable of being connected. Saturday, July 18, 2009. Before I.

Liz in the Fillmore

Tuesday, November 16, 2010. I always knew the Fillmore was small, but I never realized it was shrinking. When I first started reporting and exploring the Fillmore I had a very narrow view of what the area had to offer. In the beginning the only words I associated with the Fillmore were jazz, crime and the 22 Muni line. When I first started exploring the Fillmore, I had no sense of the community. I knew nothing of the population, demographics or if there even was a cohesive commun.

Will the real Liz please stand up?

Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Was it a fluke? When I was looking at cats to adopt last year, I knew that Sonny. Would be the guy for me. On his fact sheet he was listed as being good with dogs and cats so combined with his mellow temperament, I knew he was the boy for me. In May, I start volunteering for our local library while they were doing a conversion to RFID.
