Well it has been a long long long time since I last posted on here. In December last year my dad became extremely sick and was expected to die. He pulled through, but it was a very long recovery process and so that took up a lot of my time. I spent a lot of time home on the farm helping out as well as just trying to keep up at work whilst knowing what dad was going through. Posted by Sarah Bell Smith.

THIS WAS A 6INCH QUILTIE ROUND ROBIN. 25 MEMBERS TOOK PART, SOME OF US COMPLETED MORE THAN ONE. EACH QUILTIE WENT TO 3 MEMBERS FOR COMPLETION. EACH QUILTIE HAS SOME ELEMENT OF SILK IN IT AND THERE IS A FULL RANGE OF TECHNIQUES FROM FELTING, TYVEK, SILK PAINTING, DYEING, STENCILING, EMBROIDERY, APPLIQUE AND REVERSE APPLIQUE.

I have moved now to Poole in Dorset so am no longer member of Macclesfield branch. Margaret has set up SilkTownStitchers2. I shall endeavour to convert my new local EG branch to blogging! Here are two of the interesting pieces of embroidery from the Guilds vast collection. In March we had the opportunity to study these wide ranging examples in detail taking photos and making sketches so that we can interpret the designs, colours or shapes in our own style. These will then be part of the June meeting when they will be on show to all members and a vote will be made. There was a wide range of work going on and a far amount of chat as well!
