I am haunted by a client who had her fingernails grow into her palm because the nurses could not open her tight hemiplegic hand until after I treated her. Here are tricks that make opening a tight hand easier. Using force strengthens spastic muscles. The instant you feel resistance slow down so movement is barely visible.
My plan is to create my web profile where I can relate to others the reality of stroke and just what it is like to experience a stroke, survive and live life post stroke. A Year of Living In My Head. In July of 2011 I had a stroke. In November they found a head tumor. How I manage doctors, family, friends, and my kids without coming undone. I wrote about how much fun it was with Girl Guide Leaders. And I wanted to be able to do it with other groups. I tried it out a couple of times to figure out how to make it a little easier for our groups. 6 - 8 cups per participant disposable cups are okay but should be more solid and not squish too easily.
