Molti dubbi prima di partire, indecisioni. Leggende narranti di una Capanna Carrel stracolma, di notti passate sulla terrazza, stracolma di alpinisti. Alla fine partiamo, tardi, nella notte, con tra i denti piccozze e ramponi. Breuil-Cervina è immersa in un buio profondo, popolato di stelle. La mattina un fuoristrada ci sconta i primi 800 metri fino al Rifugio Oriondè. Quando partiamo, scarponi ai piedi, molti alpinisti di ritorno dalla vetta ci raccontano la fatica della scalata alla montagna.

We were dropped at the bus station in Huaraz, and waited for our bikes, hopefully arriving on the next bus. There are always problems with putting the bikes on a bus, a stressful operation. Passport control was quick for Rami, but not for Gal, who was waiting in the sun, in the terrible heat.
