Sunday, January 7, 2018. I hoped that ringing in 2017 and starting fresh would wipe clean the pain, confusion and doubt that 2016 was weighted with. In fact, it grew heavier and darker. I kept quiet, lost in the maze of it all. Until one night as I was wrapping up at work, a text came through that ripped me into a thousand shreds.

I aspire to one day obtain a patent and become a sucessful engineer and entrepreneur. Written at 8 years old. Back when Santa wrote that letter, Santa really had no idea where you would go. Santa knew what your mommy had been told and he also knew how very much your mommy loved you. He saw the way that you worked so hard in all you did and the way you never gave up. Kelsey, Santa is so very proud of you. I loved the way that you persisted in your me.
