Sunday, April 27, 2008. The title of the book drew me to it immediately and I found that I identified with some of its oddball characters! There are many laugh-out-loud moments in the story and fun recipes throughout. Though I would not read this story aloud in my kindergarten classroom, there are underlying themes related to grief, bullying and seeing beauty in the unusual that would be appropriate for slightly older readers.
