Dan and Kara Hike the Appalachian Trail. Wednesday, August 21, 2013. Final update.for now. The southern states GA-VA were some of my favorites, along with Maine and the Whites in New Hampshire. But some of my favorite memories were definitely when my dad came out to hike with me. Dad hiked about 120 miles in 2 sections- Roan Mtn, TN to Damascus, VA; and the MasonDixon Line to Boiling Springs, PA. Ive been asked a lot of the same questions, so Ill try to go ahead and answer some of them. PS I plan on.CONTENT

The Birches to Summit Mount Katahdin. What an ending this journey! Having lived my entire life in New England, I have had many invites to climb this amazing mountain. I always declined knowing that Katahdin would be the finale of my thru-hike. I am so glad that I did it this way. The country in Baxter State Park is a perfect place to end such awesome journey.
Thursday, December 18, 2014. I had the pleasure of taking the fundraising check down to the Frazee Dream Center today. Thank you to all those who contributed to the campaign. The money will go to support the great mentoring, tutoring and role modeling that the Frazee staff and volunteers offer to inner city youth. We tend to make life much more complicated than it needs to be. We can carry everything we need to live in a 35 pound backpack.
The main purpose of this blog is to keep friends and family up to date on my progress while on the Appalachian Trail. Thanks to everyone for all the support! Sunday, April 19, 2015.
