The good thing about top bar hives is that you can remove the lid and not expose the hive to the outside world; so that is what I did, removed the lid and stuck my head right over the top bars and to my amazement there was buzzing. I could hardly believe it, they were alive! This is the front of the beehive. Bees coming out for a cleansing flight. Some bees did not make it back to the hive.
