Tuesday, December 9, 2008. What The Banner Has Taught Me. Since I became involved with the photography staff on the Banner, I have become more aware of how important a photograph is to a newspaper story and what it contributes to it. I have learned how better to tell a story with a single or few photos and how it is vital that the reader understand what the article is talking about solely by looking at the photo. The novel is called I Heard You Paint Houses, as I dont read fiction this story actually turned out to be not only very interesting, but chilling as well. Its a story told by one of Jimmy Hoffas closest friends- and presumably the man who killed Jimmy Hoffa. I would be hard-pressed to say that there was a theme to this book, rather than the brutality of mob-life and the unspeakable acts that they would carry out.CONTENT
