Monday, December 1, 2008. No more blogging for me. As Journalism 420 draws to a close, so will my blogs. While this has been one of the easier assignments for this class, it has taught me a lot. Blogging has also taught me to use key words for my headlines . As a copy editor, I know your average rules for writing print headlines, but headlines for the Internet are different and a little more challenging.
A little bit about the news. Let me emphasize, however, that this blog does not try to report the news. Instead, this will cover issues in journalism, and some of the fun facts, errors and general wackiness it entails. Wednesday, December 3, 2008. I figure I would have my last post be about how print is getting its but kicked by radio. Over the past couple months, I have gotten hooked on podcasts from NPR. That is all I have to say about that.
Tuesday, December 2, 2008. 1 Spelling and grammar mistakes are more frequent when you are typing than when you are writing. I guess this is rule one of journalism, but I found myself doing this much more while blogging. Is newsworthy one or two words? Is reread one or two words? Does two-story have a hyphen? I hope someday people will call me the AP Stylebook.

Tuesday, December 2, 2008. How news editing has made me dislike stupid people. OK, so maybe the title is a little harsh. The semester is winding down now and we have learned a lot. But what I have noticed through the semester is that people make mistakes in their writing and in their speech often. And now that I know the mistakes, I have become much more aware of them when I see people making them.

Wednesday, December 3, 2008. Can I get your blog address? But, with blogging becoming so popular as of lately, I am glad that I got to experience a little of what the craze is all about. Maybe one day, when I feel like I have a better grasp on editing techniques and my own personal style, I will take up blogging again.
