The children saw Mummy off at the airport. Lyndsey was a good girl and understood that Mummy was going to work. It will be hard on Daddy though as he would have to single-handedly manage them both during the times before and after work. Over the next few days, Mummy will keep in touch via video conference.

Wednesday, August 28, 2013. We were able to collect 3 full 5-gallon buckets of apples off of our one apple tree this year! Due to the Rim Fire, we were afforded some days off of school, so we took advantage of the time to learn how to can applesauce! We made applesauce last year and then froze it, but we got quite a few more apples this year and figure if we can it, it will last longer and if we can bear to part with the deliciousness, we can actually share it as well.

When a hen first starts laying, the eggs are smaller. They gradually increase in size until they reach their max size after a few months. And one of the eggs was definitely smaller than the others. It was even more clear when I cracked them for my morning omelette. Kieran went out the other day to check on them and decided to play tag with them.
