Sunday, August 11, 2013. Post traumatic stress disorder is something one associates with soldiers who have been to war and victims of violent crimes. I had nightmares for many years. Nightmares where I dropped my son Brennan onto to the floor where his head shattered into a thousand pieces. Nightmares where I woke up sobbing and gasping for breath. Now these are quite rare.

Friday, January 12, 2018. A couple of years ago, I was asked to orient a new hire on my floor and was excited as she was a grad from my alma mater, so we had the same frame of reference. She was excited because she had always wanted to work in psych. I felt great knowing she was going to be on a somewhat quiet unit, instead of an acute one, like I did.
