How I discovered that more of my family originated from the Emerald Isle than I originally thought. Wednesday, 17 February 2016. My grandmother, Alice Louise Allison, was born and brought up in a hamlet called Gweeneeny, then in Co Galway, but later relocated into Co Clare on the shores of Lough Derg. Her father, Richard, was an auctioneer, farmer and publican. Gweeneeny today consists still only of the family home. The first picture shows the road to Whitegate.

The Irish Go Association is the official organisation for promotion of the ancient oriental game of Go in Ireland. We are members of the European Go Federation and the International Go Federation, and organise numerous club and tournament events throughout the year.
