I started Aikido without knowing a thing about it. I guess I am a living proof of an obsession can bring you to what you want. Monday, January 27, 2014. Kangeiko Day 1, Shihonage. I was thinking I came a long way. Its my 10th Kangeiko, meaning its my 10th year doing this Aikido. I often ask myself whats driving me to do this Aikido so much? .
As my training continues year after year I have realized that I have had the same revelations time and time again. Part of this is the ongoing process of finding new depths within each technique, but part of it is also that I simply forget the flash of inspiration that I saw, heard or felt on the mat in the same way that a dream dissipates moments after waking. This is my attempt to hold onto those flashes of brilliance and understanding. It is also a place to share them.

Monday, January 28, 2013. My grandma Cee always called Texas, West Hades. She had lived in West Hades until she was thirteen years old when she found her way out and as far north as Missouri. She met grandpa Cee and married him when she was only fourteen and he took her back home with him to Alabama. So Alabama was East Hades for me. I thought about the sleeve of my new coat. I turned the coat wrong side and slipped it on.
