My first hour or so out of the house was an opportunity for my 6 year old daughter to stretch her legs in a local playground a few hundred yards from our base in Lake City. Next up overhead the dark form of a turkey vulture gliding around, closely followed by several more and a black vulture in tow. In one of the trees at the playground another mo.
Well I think I am going to give this blog writing another bash. I would like to be able to look back at old blog entries in years to come and remember each birding outing in as much detail as possible. I went up to the one and only Miles. LEO, What a beauty. This bird was causing a bit of a stir and turning a few heads a moulty white headed Ruff but it stood out from the rest. The Black-tailed Godwits were also in heavy moult but this one was quite presentable.
With a bit of watching from the car park I was able to work out where a favoured feeding area was. So a short walk managed to get us far better views than we could get from the RSPB view point.
