Wednesday, October 18, 2006. This is an interesting week, while in the microbiology lab, I manage to see a scabies and hookworm parasite under the microscope! The hookworm is a nematode parasite that lives in the small intestine of its host. The 2 species of hookworms commonly infect humans are Ancylostoma duodnale and Necator americanus. It is an intestinal parasite that usually cause diarrhoea or cramps.
