The statutory moth trap is in place and also a daily log for butterflies, dragonflies etc. We share an office, kindly provided by EDF Energy, with the County Wildlife Trust. This is located next to the Nature Reserve car park. Do call in. Please leave sightings in the letterbox, ESPECIALLY 39;fly-by39; seabirds.

Wednesday, 28 March 2018. Observers were not optimistic considering the weather forecast and attention soon turned to the sea with the first 7 Razorbills of the spring recorded along with an adult Kittiwake, a single Red-throated Diver and 8 Red-breasted Mergansers. Tuesday, 27 March 2018. Also logged were 2 Goldcre.

Welcome to North Lancs Ringing Group. Friday, 16 March 2018. Grey Wagtails Suffer from the Cold Weather? So far the only local report of a dead bird during the cold spell was a Blue Tit . However we have been fortunate with only a short lived covering of snow. Sunday, 4 March 2018. Bearded Tit Pair Remain Faithful. Will be interesting to see if there are any more grit tray sightings in this cold spring. Fortunately we have no snow but it has been very cold.

Monday, 21 March 2011. The session at Mere Sands Wood was a massive success as participants were able to see Bullfinch, Reed Bunting, Brambling and Tree Sparrow amongst other more common woodland birds up close and personal.
