Tuesday, November 24, 2009. I think it is a benefit to have literary circles. It gives the chance for the students to interact without worring about giving the wrong answers. Since we were working together as a group, the students were working together and giving suggestions to each other. I think literature circles are good for ESL students because it is safe. They could share answers and experiences.
Wednesday, September 9, 2009. I am an ESL teacher for our school system. I love working with English learners! I sometimes feel like I learn as much as they do. I am currently enrolled in the graduate program. I should be finished by next year.
Thursday, June 18, 2009. I have observed dual existence. I think as Educators, this is something we see quite often, especially at the beginning of the school year. At this time, students are most comfortable. Incorporate group projects and group the students together, by not allowing the students to choose their own groups cuts down on dual existence. Friday, December 4, 2009. As with doing most things for the first time, I was a little apprehensive going into this lesson. For the most part the literature circle went well. I presented the folktale lesson to my 4 th. I chose folktales from China, Mali, and the Tlingit Indians of Alaska. The students really enjoyed the books and completing the pre. And what they would have done differently. They are still asking when will we do it again. I think this technique is appropriate for second lang.
