시선추적 Eye-tracking 은 꽤 오랜 역사를 가지고 있습니다. 약 100여년 전부터 안구의 움직임을 기록하고자 하는 시도가 있어왔으니까요. 물론 타인의 눈의 움직임을 관찰하여 심리를 파악하려는 시도는 수십만년 , 인류가 원시인이던 시절부터 있었습니다. 시선을 추적하는 가장 원시적인 방법은 잔상 afterimage를 사용하는 것입니다. 밝은 빛을 오랫동안 보다가, 다른 곳을 보면 눈을 움직일 때마나 잔상이 생기죠. 잔상은 몇 초 후면 사라져 버리지만, 자신의 안구 움직임을 확인할 수 있는 최초의 방법이었습니다. 물론 이 잔상은 자신만 볼 수 있고, 또 기록할 수 있는 방법도 없긴 합니다. 피험자가 가느다란 코일이 감긴 콘택트렌즈.
