Hiking the Parks and Preserves of Ohio. There are four trails in the preserve that are open the public. The Portman Trail is a great starting pointing for exploring this majestic landscape. Sunday, August 5, 2012. A cicada in one of the later nymphal stages, not yet ready to leave the ground. I was fortunate to be able to witness this incredible life change. A few cicadas had exited their underground tunnels underneath a tree directly behind a fence where I had a white sheet hung to attract moths.
