Queen Eider and photo bombing gannet. The orange bill, position of the nostrils and the sails all indicate borealis. Bottom line is that my interest in eiders has been tricked.
A lovely day in Shetland. Weisdale Voe in bright early spring sunshine. An amazing place, housed in an old church, and containing a huge instagram. Standing stone, part of the Clava cairns, a type of Bronze Age circular chamber tomb cairn. Snow as part of every day living! .
Eagles eye on life! Wednesday, July 19, 2017. Well I am back! I was thinking wonder where my blog is lead to 30 mins of remembering my gmail address and lol here we are and on route quite by chance I rediscovered an old friend and will be able to contact him again. I will return with a few madcap tales generally on birding but I expect the other aspects of life will creep in. Now to find out how to post a photo! There seems to have been some changes. This is going to be my last post. I have not posted here since April and I seem to be instead posting on Facebook. A lot has been happening. I have a Raspberry Cane and a Gojinberry too. Sunday, 1 June 2014. Small Cushion Stars and a Cowrie in a Limpet Shell. This is the storm that raged through the Small Cushion Star known Fair Isle location, Feb. No sign of them last year, and they were feared lost until now. Thursday, 22 August 2013. Large Mouth Bass caught in Cotton Lake, Minnesota, USA. For a change of habitat I decided to spend the day along the river at Rimbi, no surprises in what I saw, just birds typical of the area - 5 Plumbeous Water Redstarts, 1 Verditer Flycatcher, 1 Brown Dipper, 2 Crested Serpent Eagle, 2 Long-tailed Minivets, 2 Grey Treepie, 1 Mountain Tailorbird, 20 Himalayan Bulbul and a dozen or so Spangled Drongo. Thursday, July 09, 2015. Honey with a touch of the east. One of my main target species when I was in Eilat was Oriental Honey Buzzard. The mystery surrounding there occurrence in Eilat, recent discovery, eastern flavour, ID challenge and the thought of picking them out of kettles of European Honey Buzzards drew me towards them.
