What looked like being a pretty uneventful visit today was brightened up when at the end of my loop of the lake I spotted a bird perched up on the barbed wire fence by the reedbed which proved to be as hoped a Whinchat. The first baby Moorhens. Were present on the lake, as was a drake Mandarin. And a single Common Snipe. Sadly the drop.
