These paintings help demonstrate my concept of the sliding panels with the one view showing the space open and the other show in the exterior when closed. Thursday, January 31, 2008. Panoramic view of the neighborhood and east side of the river from the new aerial tram. Wednesday, January 30, 2008. Following them along the curved concrete wall, I approach the underpass. A soft rumble crescendos to a thunderous roar, punctuated by the shriek of worn brakes or the groan of a downshifting truck. Paying no heed, I hesitantly step forward. The door banged shut behind me, but did nothing to muffle the acrid words my mother directed my way.

Friday, March 21, 2008. The green blocks are park settings in the city. With Portland being such a pronounced green city, I wanted to bring the park setting into my structure. My narratorium is the combination of these two aspects. I Think that story telling can be divided into two classifications, sharing and listening. 1 Threshold between SW Broadway Ave. 2 Main Entrance when the other doors are closed.

Northwest corner of the building - intersection of SW Broadway and Madison. 2 After turning the first corner, the body has risen more and more of the context of the city is given. The opening in the wall also allows for sounds and smells from the city to permeate into the entrance sequence.

After considering the true essence of what it is to tell a story I have come to the realization that the most important qualities that story-telling inhabits is the gesture and expression that is communicated. I believe that without such qualities, it looses its meaning. I began to dig deeper into this idea of the process of telling stories and broke it down into three essential parts.

The Narratorium will formally promote the art of story telling by offering story telling workshops. Jag har ett vackert minne från min annars ganska plågade barndom. Jag kan så tydligt minnas den där sommarmorgonen när jag vaknade upp i mamma och pappas säng. Det var bara jag där. När jag slog upp ögonen noterade jag att mamma öppnat fönstret. Vi hade gamla fönster med innanglas som sattes i på vintern och togs bort på sommaren. När det var sommar gick fönstren att öppna. Det finns inget dåligt väder, bara dåliga kläder.
