The curiosities of Cheltenham Spa, past and present. Starting with the letter C. Dating street name signs is always difficult, but I would guess this slender and understated nameplate belongs to the mid or late 19th century. Seen here on one of the earlier Regency terraces, where it fits in nicely with the wrought-iron verandah.

Christmas Past and Future at the Geffrye. Is a very recent cultural import. Then again, the local area itself has been undergoing massive demographic and infrastructural change, and it seems right that the Geffrye evolve with it. Gentrification of the surrounding areas - Spitalfields, Shoreditch and Hoxto.
Can you decipher this hand-painted ghostsign in Bride Street? Out doing a recce for a new walk idea earlier this month I happened upon the remnants of a hand-painted sign across 83-87 Bride Street, N7. I attempted to take a few photos with my phone but it was late in the day and the light was poor and so the resultant pics were too. Earlier this week, I ventured out in the biting cold armed with my camera.
