Fabric Nation

Monday, 18 February 2013. Oh dear, my plans to blog regularly havent quite come off! Nor my best bits of 2012 blog planned for last month. Instead I have been distracted by thinking about how it all started, this love of pattern and print and junk shop treasure and that DIY ethic that gave me the confidence to do so many things. After seeing this lovely photo in the Guardian. Dressed ourselves up in more curtains whenever we could! And had fun being sweet and silly, and making amazing stuff happen!

This is my panel for my City and Guilds. I printed with vegetables and acrylic paint on fabric, added machine and hand stitch and then applied them to a pre-made canvas. I added padding behind some and some loose elements like roots and leaves. If there is a lack of sparkle and excitement in this determination it is not because I have lost my love of stitching- not one bit.

Under The Lindens

A blog about crafting, cats, gardening, holidays and whatever else takes my fancy. Sunday, 15 November 2015. Meet Bilbo, who saved our sanity in the wake of losing Stanzi. He came to us as a stray, shortly before we had to say goodbye to Stanzi. He had been sleeping on our log pile for a week or so during the day and we assumed he was just put out in the morning and let back in at night. He was clearly traumatised by the treatment he had received before being.

Sunday, May 5, 2013. My husband and I are major DIYers when it comes to updating our home. We recently began to tackle the first half of our kitchen. Here is a quick peek of what it looked like before. Need I say more of why we wanted to tackle this? Paneling came down, Sheetrock went up, walls got spackled, primed, and painted and here is the result. Here is a peek at our finished project.
