Wednesday, June 22, 2005. In the beginning there was darkness, which was soon swept over by an irritating beeping sound. Some light breaks in as I crack my lids open just enough to turn off the alarm, and my arm is instinctually drawn to the bedside table. I fumble for a cigarette. These waking moments, lately, are the brightest part of the day. I wonder when the distinction between the two will become more clear.
