Conversation of late between my friend Serge Avery and I has been about travel writer Bruce Chatwin and his early death from AIDs in 1988. It very much reminded me of a close friend of mine, Khalid Kiani whom also passed away from complications of AIDs in 1988. My first introduction to him was by the hostel parent, Tony Chatham in 1983.
