Wednesday, March 07, 2007. Thursday, January 04, 2007. Oh, a new semester has begun. The students are energized and ready to go, and so are the teachers. WRONG! As always, our break is never long enough. However, this year, our break was even shorter. Our last day was December 20. Teachers had to report back January 2 and students reported back January 3. It just seems to get shorter and shorter each year. At least we did go back to a three day week! Of mine moved to O.

Sunday, January 07, 2007. I think I get respect from students by being fair and treating all students the same. The easiest way to lose their respect is by playing favorites. I even give the students some choice when they are being punished. I think the students need to hear a little truth.

Tuesday, June 20, 2006. Dave Molina let me borrow Radical Equations, a book by Bob Moses, describing the Algebra Project a movement akin to the Civil Rights Movement pushing for mathematical fluency among minorities. To summarize, algebra is the new enfranchisement. There are obvious links to distance, displacement, direction, and the like. How far was our end point from our starting point? In all, the trip id.
