Daktari Life

Sunday, August 16, 2015. Karen Blixen once said, The cure for anything is salt water- sweat, tears, or the sea. Daktari agreed with this home remedy at last, so we went for a few days where the salt water of Zanzibar would wash over us enough that we could begin the painful process of physically leaving Kenya. Some would call it a beach vacation. I called it our Last Resort in Africa time. This was the night we flew. I call them the Pushy-Affluent-White-lady types PAWL. How can I get checked in?

Jess, Melissa, Caden and Eli. Monday, March 25, 2013. Look at me go! Two in one day! Back in February we were in Munich for 5 days. One of our day trips included Fussen and the famous Neuschwanstein castle. It was actually a sunny day, which was a pleasant surprise and nice change from all the clouds and snow. Our first glimpse of the castle, taken through a bus window. The village at the base of the castles. Jess and I, pre-hike up the mountain. Both boys were asleep in strollers. We had a couple of nic.

Tuesday, November 16, 2010. Poor Children Need More Than Our Shoeboxes. It seems like everywhere I go or every time I log on Facebook, I see a huge push for Operation Christmas Child this Christmas. Perhaps it sticks out because its been so long since we have been in the States for Christmas. Regardless, I feel compelled to throw out the challenge that the children of the world need more than our shoeboxes filled with American treats. Posted by Stu and Lauren. Tuesday, March 23, 2010.

Andy just updated the blog and it sounds as if it is smooth sailing, so to speak. You can read about the last 24 hours here. Still getting about 150 miles a day. Glad to see the winds are blowing in their favor. Looking forward to hearing all about the trip! We are missing the captain of our ship here. He has been gone a week now.
