Friday, December 2, 2016. A bike runnel is a smooth u-shaped guideway adjacent to a staircase that allows cyclists to roll their bikes up and down as opposed to having to lift and carry them. Cincinnati has included bike runnels in many of our public stairways, most recently at Smale Park and the Liberty Hill Steps. Just guide your bike wheels into the groove and push it up, or squeeze your brakes and roll it down.

Bicycle performer Nicolas Edward Kaufman invented art cycling in 1888. Art cyclists are actually acrobats. While riding, they perform all kinds of figures and jumps. It is done in a sport hall, solo or in teams. The discipline is mostly practiced in Germany, this is why all the rules and regulations are in German. A jury judges the execution of the figures and subtracts points from the 200 total the cyclist receives at the start.

Looks like it is Spring. Last Monday was very wet so no riding. Tuesday, no rain or frost so we managed an early morning ride. We carried on through the village and crossed on the bridge over the A19 to reach East Rounton.
