Wednesday, April 22, 2009. The NCAA approved sand volleyball as the newest sport in college. It will begin in 2010 and will be for women only. It will be known as sand volleyball instead of beach volleyball because many of the colleges will not be near a beach. Beach volleyball is the fastest growing sport in the United States.
