Glaitness Class 1A 201011. Monday, 20 June 2011. As it is nearly the end of term, 1A had a class day out. First we went to Breck Farm. We saw lots of animals and enjoyed feeding and petting them. We werent all so keen on the hens and ducks, but felt a bit braver when we knew they were a safe distance away! There were even small animal, such as guniea pigs and rabbits for us to see. Sunday, 19 June 2011. On Friday 17th June Colin Gregg visited us to talk about the European Jetski Challenge that has just finished. Colin and his team rode their jetskis all the way from Orkney to Monaco in time for the Formula one race. Here they are leaving Scapa on their jetskis.
Thursday, 3 March 2011. Wednesday, 2 March 2011. This term we have been learning all about the weather. We used a jar, a balloon and a straw to make our own barometer. A barometer measures air pressure. We have done lots of experiments. We have been learning about freezing and melting. We did an experiment to measure the melting point of ice. We found that ice freezes at 0 degrees celcius. We have also learned about the water cycle, rainbows, and did our own weather forecasting.
