Als es noch keine Zentralheizungen gab, nutzten die Menschen Kirschkernsäckchen zum Warmhalten von Betten und Sitzplätzen in den kalten Zimmern. Auf den Holzöfen gab es kleine Gestelle zum Anwärmen von Körnerkissen oder Backsteinen. Aber auch den Nutzen der Wärme bei verschiedenen Weh-wehchen wußte man zu schätzen.
