Monday, May 24, 2010. Ellender students hear how the plantation was saved. Ellender students view an African tradition. Slave tags demonstration for Ellender students. Ellender students were shown a slave house and told of a slave revolt. Ellender Middle interviewed Captain Nathaniel Lyons from Illinois. We were shown how moss mattresses are made. We were shown slave tags. They were similar to dog tags used by the army to identify slaves if they ran away.
