The Privilege of a Lifetime is being who you are. Monday, February 11, 2013. It has been three months since I blogged - for many reasons I suppose. But oh well, onward and upward. Mardi Gras 2013 was a grand success. Sort of sorry for the people who Mardi Gras into Monday and Tuesday as it is really rainy outside with no sign of slacking up. Hope to post some pictures of our recent birthdays and trip to Colorado and other adventures soon.
What is essential is invisible to the eye. Sunday, June 15, 2014. I was so burned out by the end of last year that I just quit. I am finally tired enough of eating at the coffee table to finish our dining room. I now have that wall! I am no interior decorator, but its fun to see my vision start to come together.
Friday, April 4, 2014. It was eleven years ago today that my son Benji had surgery to remove a brain tumor. I spent the last precious preop moments memorizing Benji and telling him how precious he is and how much we love him. How happy he makes everybody who meets him. I sent him to surgery knowing that I said everything that needed to be said. The OR nurse would call every hour or so and update me. Each call would keep me going for another hour or so, so I never panicked.
Fourth of July, 2010. I love the Fourth of July. I love red, white, and blue, and I love them together for what they invoke in my heart and mind. Something we see less and less of as time marches on. I saw a piece today written by Ed Morrissey that made me think. Another of my favorite thing.
Friday, April 15, 2011. With a family this gorgeous and fun, this session was a literal walk in the park. Another baby planner turns the big 0-1. Saturday, April 02, 2011. Avery, Caroline, and introducing Madeleine. Yeah, they worked it, they owned it. PS-the Arboretum is so gorgeous right now! Good thing since it tends to be my home away from home this time of year.

We posted pictures of her that let me stare at her face when I returned to work after my maternity leave was over. In May 2004, the focus of the site shifted to an online journal to write about the daily struggles with her leukemia and eventually, her death. These are excuses, I know.
