The journey home

This blog is a record of my attempt to follow my mother39;s escape from Latvia during WWII. I visit relatives, search for Displaced Persons39; camps in Poland, Germany and Italy, and end the journey in Bonegilla, which was once home to the largest migrant camp in Australia. I39;ve used my experiences as the basis for making art about cultural displacement and identity. The project was made possible by funding from the 2008 Inaugural Qantas Contemporary Art Award.
