AAC block and making a thermal break. In efforts to alleviate the massive thermal break of this slab on grade construction detail, we were able to incorporate AAC block as the top course of the foundation wall. This modification, along with a cork expansion joint and exterior foundation insulation we were able to increase our R-value at this point in the wall from R-1 to R-11!
