EmBRACING it - a braces and jaw surgery diary. Two Years and Some Change. Sometimes it feels like it was a lifetime ago, and other times I cannot believe I am making my way to the three year post-op mark.
Braced up since September 2011. I had a mandibular sagittal split osteotomy on the 29th November, 2013. Braces coming off on the 8th April 2014! Went and saw both my orthodontist and my surgeon last week. I saw the ortho first and he asked my how I felt about my teeth.
Tuesday, September 10, 2013. Sorry for not posting in quite awhile. I just bought my first home and have been very busy with everything that goes along with that. I just moved in this past Saturday and lucky for me I got my braces off the very next Tuesday! Thursday, July 11, 2013. So braces removal was almost 6 months to the day after surgery and the total time was about 21. Thursday, May 23, 2013.

My Awful Open Bite - The Road to Jaw Surgery. Friday, May 17, 2013. So last week as I was flossing my teeth I took a closer look and saw that one of my bottom teeth had shifted forward. Back to the ortho I went where they confirmed the tooth had moved and cut some holes in my bottom retainer to force the tooth back the other way. In two weeks I go back to get another retainer. I will post some pics of my teeth soon. I hope all of you are well.
