하인으로 살 것인가 주인으로 살 것인가. 연예인 관련하여 종종 접할 수 있는 기사가 그들의 빌딩이다. 누가 어디어디 구입한 빌딩이 수십억, 수백억원이며, 세입자와의 갈등과 분쟁이 있고, 누가 산 빌딩이 가격이 크게 올라서 그는 참 좋겠다 등등. 그동안은 한낱 가십거리에 불과해서 그냥 눈 앞에서 스쳐 지나가는 정도의 기사였는데 요즘 이런 기사를 접하게 되면 생각이 참 많아진다. 다름 아닌 집을 사야 하나 건물을 사야 하나,라는 고민이다. 직장 생활 15년 정도 일하고 5억원이라는 돈을 모으고 40대 중반이 되었다고 가정해보자. 지금은 아파트 전세를 살고 있고 아내, 아들, 딸과 함께 오손도손 살고 있다. 5억원이니 돈도 좀 모은 셈이고 아이들도 커가고 이제 슬슬 집을 장만해야 하지 않나,라는 생각이 들지만 한편으로는 이런 생각이 든다. 5억원으로 집을 사고 나면 그 다음은? 물론 그 땅과 건물에 들어가 대신 노동을 제공해주는 사람이다. 생각해보면 땅과 건물의 가치는 결국은 하인이 올려놓은 것이겠지만 .
