Birding Poole Harbour Beyond

11 Aug 15 - What A Prediction. A more predictable migrant heading off to France. South Haven 8 Aug 15. This popped out of a seemly quiet bush after a ten minute wait. This was a bonus for me as Pied Flycatcher is one of the species I would probably see, but cant guarantee I will see it for the StudlandBallard Patch Year List. It stayed for two days, but was never easy to see in the open for long. Im clearly going to have to try Grahams strategy more often. 8 Aug 15 - Black Stork Madness. Juvenile.

birding never sleeps

Dull July days in West Sussex. Now, just as the first returning migrants are starting to appear along the coast, I am away for a couple of weeks or so. About 30 Swifts put on good display this evening over the garden. Atching over our house has given e a lot of enjoyment this month.

Stork Talk 5th August 2015. Black Stork has always proved a difficult bird for me to catch up with. Considered rare, I think only 233 have been seen before in Britain. Until today I had never seen one in Britain as they usually turn up a long way from where I live and are often just seen soaring overhead, high up in the sky, and if one does settle on the ground it never seems to stay in one place long enough for me to drive to see it.
