Monday, December 8, 2014. Take a Break from the City. Including extracts from my diary for the day - 10 June 2014. Trip organised and guided by Gunnar of Kolibri Expeditions. Just after 7am we headed off from the backpackers I was staying at in Miraflores area, to Pantanos de Villa, stopping along the way at a spot along the malacon where the most obvious birds were the pelicans and gulls. Very excitedly Gunnar points out a Peruvian Seaside Cinclodes.
Saturday, October 22, 2016. Luquillo Mountains from the Yokahu Observation Tower. The El Yunque National Forest encompasses 28,000 acres in Northeast Puerto Rico. It is one of the smallest in the National Forest system, the only tropical forest, and the most biodiverse. In 1876 the Luquillo Forest was decreed a forest resrve of 10,000 acres by the Spanish Crown. It was proclaimed a S. forest reserve in 1907, by Theodore Roosevelt.
