In the summer of 1955 when I was in college and was working in Asheboro, NC, I decided to ride my one-speed bicycle home to Winston-Salem one Friday evening, only to get there and find that my parents were away. That 45 mile jaunt was my last lengthy bike ride until 1974. I lived in Bethlehem, PA from 1969-1976 and my wife and four children and I drove to NC at Chris.
