Mute Swan Census - Phase 2. Cygnets at Corkagh Park at 12 weeks. Stretching of wings first observed at 3 lolcation all at 12 weeks. Sharp eyed followers of the blog will notice I have added 3 broods to the data base whose nests were never discovered. At the Star Dust Memorial Park in Coolock, and on the Tolka River at Drumcondra and Fairview swans turned up with cygnets! Saturday, 1 August 2015.

Northern Ireland Black-headed Gull Study. Wednesday, 12 August 2015. Things are certainly on the move with migrating birds passing through and gulls returning to their wintering sites. We have had several reports of continental birds already back at Whitehouse Lagoon, Belfast Lough and at Antrim, Lough Neagh. Ill post a short update on the gulls in the next few days.
