This is a personal account of a trip I made to the Bernese Oberland area of Switzerland in September - October 2006. Friday, November 17, 2006. Before I left home I purchased a Swiss Travel Pass which allowed me free travel on all the trains as far as Grindelwald, Wengen and Murren and half price travel higher up. I was also able to use this pass on the train to and from the airport and on the Post Buses. It can also be used to get into some museums free.
I have been hill walking for over thirty years although in the early days this only involved a few trips each year to the Cairngorms or Lochnagar areas. In fact it was several years before I realised what a Munro. Actually was, and 1997 before I completed my first round on Ben More on the Island of Mull. Since then I have completed a further four rounds, two Corbett. These links will take you to a blog which gives an account of these ascents.
