Tuesday, 3 October 2017. The NW wind does blow. And today it blew hard making any productive birding a real challenge. We did our usual and headed to Valyie as this was probably the best place to find some calm conditions. 3 swallows and 3 house martin over the garden were new in and an increase of skylarks in the crop in the valley. At least 15 birds were present. Around the garden the redstart was still present along with a yellow browed warbler and a pink footed goose over call.
Thursday, July 09, 2015. Honey with a touch of the east. One of my main target species when I was in Eilat was Oriental Honey Buzzard. The mystery surrounding there occurrence in Eilat, recent discovery, eastern flavour, ID challenge and the thought of picking them out of kettles of European Honey Buzzards drew me towards them.

Sunday, January 27, 2013. As many of you know, were now the Wardens of Skokholm Island. Its a fantastic place, Britains first Bird Observatory, home to Britains densest Manx Shearwater. Colony and largest Storm Petrel. Colony, with 5,000 Puffins. And stunning scenery. Well be living in the Lighthouse, monitoring the wildlife, running the guest accommodation and trying to reestablish the Bird Observatory. Exciting times! Posted by Rich and Giselle.
