Friday, May 14, 2010. This is a Cardinalis cardinalis. According to Wikipedia, the cardinal is interesting as a song bird because both male and female versions sing. Typically it is only the males, who are trying desperately to mate. Granted horrible things can happen when your rope snaps, a piece of protection breaks, or a storm sneaks up on you. But the most dangerous thing about climbing, at least climbing in Wyoming, is getting shot.
