Monday, May 20, 2013. Advice to the 2013-2014 Aquatic Science Students. Throughout the year we had a pretty steady tank when it came to water quality. The only times our numbers were out of whack was after Christmas because of the holiday feeder and then for a short period of time we had a little algae problem. To balance out the algae we used a teaspoon of bacteria and shortly after our levels were back to normal. Below are the healthy levels. Ammonia 0.0- 2.0 ppm. Nitrate 0.0- 10 ppm. Monday, May 20, 2013. Advice to the 2013 - 2014 AqSci Students. You have officially become a part of the aquatic science class community! For the next several months, you will be lifting heavy buckets of water, trying to keep your water quality in check, and struggling to find time to feed your fish. Put a charcoal medium in your filter, for the water clarity that everyone wants. Clean the algae from your decorations every time you clean. I think those are the major points.

Sunday, May 19, 2013. At the beginning of the year I was very surprised that we were going get our own fish and be taking care of them. Even though I never had an experiment with fish before. When we started researching about fish we had to figure out which of the fishes will go with each other. As I said we had the library. Good luck next year!
