A journal of a path to somewhere. About a life less simple. The sight of ramson shoots popping their fresh green through bare woodland floors is a welcomed one after the winter months, it means spring is finally arriving. This year I have tested out a new recipe to add to the annual spring pesto.

Monday, 31 May 2010. This is a raised corner bed that I have got my eye on for growing some butternut squash and pumpkins but it was a bit overgrown with ivy. It took some clearing - some of the roots were a good inch thick and needed sawing. We covered the roots in cardboard. Then S topped it with our first batch of homemade compost. For the past couple of years these too have departed, and the land has lain fallow, an old Bramley and a couple of diseased Dittisham plum trees being the only sign of times past.
