I am a Natural Language Understanding Research Engineer at Nuance Communications, and a former PhD student in the UC Santa Barbara Department of Linguistics. My linguistic interests center around using computational, corpus-based methodology to study interactional and conversational practices.

I am fascinated by the myriad of ways one can apply the methods of historical linguistics, typology, corpus linguistics, prototype theory, and various aspects of cognitive science to fields such as semantics, language acquisition, and the neologisms found in internet linguistics.
