Stuff about the Argo record label. I started out with some grand idea of writing about all those thousands of folk recordings that are lying around decomposing in the vaults of record companies or lost and unlistened to on the archive racks of learned institutions. But it somehow morphed into this ramshackle look at the British record label Argo.
My aim is to find interesting and unusual, out of print records, digitize them, and upload to share with others. Monday, January 19, 2015. Rumiko Koyanagi does not sing on this recording nor does she play the koto. However, the songs on this record were all made famous by Rumiko during the early 1970s. As the record was released in 1973, she would have been at the height of her popularity in Japan. The music is known as enka.
